If you read this blog, you know I went to an event held for Kansas City bloggers at the brand new AMC Fork & Screen on Oct. 28.
I was very satisfied with my experience, but found out today that I got double charged for my food purchase.
I sent a Tweet to Justin Gardner, AMC’s social media guru, and he addressed the problem within minutes. He gave me two options: get a refund in about 10 business days, or he could send me some free coupons to make up for the charge.
It was $8.59, so I chose the coupons.
This is a PERFECT example of how forming relationships with influential third parties helps your brand online.
Now I’m writing a blog about how happy I am with their response to my problem, and now you’re reading it… and now you’ll think about it next time you go to AMC Theatres.
I posted a blog on Wednesday about our recording session for some marketing videos we’re getting produced with the help of Dan Welter.
Here is the audio from our “universe” video. This is going to be an all-in-one piece that helps people understand Spiral16, Spark and our company goals.
AMC did something smart (as far as viral marketing goes) on Tuesday night.
They’re opening a new theater called the Fork & Screen at their Olathe location (119th and I-35).
The company invited a group of local bloggers to be some of the first people to experience the new Fork & Screen environment.
The idea being that they engage with a group of influential people in the community to begin word-of-mouth press.
Justin Gardner, who is head writer and social media guru for AMC, told me they have over 150 pieces of new content created about Fork & Screen since the event ended on Tuesday night.
What’s great about this event is that the bloggers were invited in with the other media outlets, and we were given VIP treatment. It definitely made the group happy, and started their WOM campaign on a good note.
Few complaints on my end. Bravo, AMC.
I’m going to monitor this buzz using our software and share the Ecosystem in a few days!
We’re creating a set of videos for the Web site that help potential clients learn what Spiral16 and Spark are about.
Tamlyn, our assistant, is from South Africa. Vanessa, Tamlyn’s mom, has a wicked-amazing accent, so we tricked her into voicing the audio for us.
Tuesday was our first audio session at C.R. Sound with Dan Welter, our video producer. The Spark album should drop in late November. (That’s some rock star humor… get it? No? Kbye.)
Check out the video blog for a brief look at our recording session.
This one expresses ideas for repositioning data - and making it more valuable once it’s collected or provided. Something we are constantly doing at Spiral16.
I’m pretty sure I was robbed of first place in the pumpkin carving contest in Perry, Kan. last weekend.
When I decided to carve a Jayhawk pumpkin, I wasn’t aware that the contest judge was a Kansas State fan. Instant discrimination.
Since I live in a gated apartment complex, I probably won’t get trick-or-treaters. Mom is taking the Jayhawk off my hands so it can eventually be stolen and smashed by a bunch of 12-year-old Johnson County boys.
Below is my pumpkin matched up with the winning pumpkin. I guess a fire-breathing dragon is pretty cool..
Take a look at more of the party pics on my Facebook album. If you want to tackle carving the Jayhawk pumpkin, I posted the pattern on my blog.
Spark's Insight Information section is just one way to track trends.
Good friend Ramsey posted a quote on his blog late last night that I thought applied directly to the challenge presented by social media:
“It’s not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” ~ Charles Darwin
It’s important to remember that this new-fangled Internet stuff is ever-changing. It’s always evolving, because so much of it is controlled by what users want. Poor results come when companies try too hard to control their online communities. If you want to survive, keep an open mind and respond to changes in online trends… and do it fast.
Shameless plug: Spark lets you track trends in your online community in near-real time. Sounds pretty handy.
If Darwin were alive today, he’d probably have a great social media blog.
Despite your political beliefs, I think we can all agree that technology initiatives have been crucial in this election. Barack Obama has raised about a gajillion dollars online and has his own version of social networking with my.barackobama.com.
According to the article, election-related SNL clips have been viewed more than 45 million times since the show’s season premiere on Sept. 13. Hello, viral ad cash:
“Online video streams and Nielsen ratings aren’t comparable — the Nielsen viewers are unique; streams aren’t. But the point is that the online clip will ultimately expose “SNL” to a lot more viewers than TV alone. And with pre-roll advertising running on NBC.com and Hulu.com, it is also adding revenue.”
Are you registered to vote? Hopefully your deadline hasn’t passed! Find out.
Here is an interesting POV from one of the big ad agencies, Wunderman. I have met many of the people in this video so it’s nice to see the faces again. They could certainly benefit from our Spark platform, because of its versatility and convenience (a data agnostic SaaS).
This makes our software flexible, dynamic and an easy up-sell to agencies that understand the value data can provide for brand and creative briefs and mass intelligence.
It makes sense that many interested parties come from the advertising sector.
Client-facing, data-flexible business intelligence in near-real time will enhance any agency’s marketing.
Our blog won't bore you. It's not something we have to make us look better than our competitors. It's about sharing who we are as a company... and behind every great company, there are stories to tell.
We know it's the talented people who make up Spiral 16 that make our company special.
So this is where you'll read about us, our product and some of the insane things we do that help us achieve excellence by the end of the work day.
