As technology advances, all industries must race to keep up with the new opportunities and threats to their business. Though there can be no certainties about what 2014 may hold, but there are definitely trends that brands must be aware of and act upon.

With over 14 hotel marketing trends developed by Net Affinity in this infographic, the hospitality industry has multiple avenues to spur business and attract visitors. Two of these trends jump to mind immediately: Semantic search is extremely important if businesses want to get contextually relevant information, and we have also written about the growing importance of Google+ before.

Hotels may view the growth of mobile use as a positive, because it is now easier than ever to book a room on the go. We know how storms can upset and change plans, so its great that customers can change arrangements and bookings while mobile. But with all good things comes a downside, and what potential customers see on their mobile phone about your business might change their mind.
Reviews can kill any business. Think of the last time you booked a vacation without looking up reviews first. Aha! Stumped you right? Traditional word of mouth has expanded into digital referrals.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Yelp reports 50 million users across its web and mobile platforms, while 34 million unique users use TripAdvisor each MONTH.
If you haven’t yet, check out, monitor and act upon Yelp, TripAdvisor and Google Places reviews multiple times a week. Let customers know that you are hearing their voice. If you are really adventurous, give customers an extra push to write reviews online that will build your positive web presence.
